I thought it was the actual eating of junk food that caused obesity, not the the advertising. Get real, parents need to be responsible for their children. This is just liberal, do gooder bullshit!

I partially agree with you. I strongly blame parents.
But cigarette and alcohol advertising that entices minors has been banned. And judging from the advertising budget targeting children for junk food, the advertising must be very successful.
And finally, sexual pornographic photos are banned to minors, under the guise that it will give them bad ideas. And even good taste slightly erotic poses in photos with non-nude minors are banned. I am just drawing analogies how drakonian approaches to underage sex and photos could be used to solve real life and death problems of epidemic public health proportions.
