Applying these rules to uncontrollable criminally minded looters and hooligans has terrible effects: good citizen’s physical integrity, lives, health, financial integrity get destroyed by such criminals.

Humanely arresting a marauding crowd of arsonists is not practical. It will not protect safety and property of good citizens, it will not stop and prevent imminent danger.

Put a camera on the sights of the guns of police. Make sure that everyone shot was engaged in an act of dangerous violence, with arms, crow bars, Molotov Cocktails, and was not in self defense against criminals. If non-lethal violence can be used. But don’t be shy to use deadly force. One can even arrest an entire crowd: have you seen 5 policemen controlling a huge crowd of riotous prisoners, lying on the ground? The prisoners know, one false move and they get shot.

Using lethal force, there will be inevitable collateral damage. Certainly less damage then done by week-long riots.This damage should be accepted and excused, provided it can be shown to be accidental and due to true honest mistakes. Honest serious policemen, and citizens defending their life and property should be excused in case of honest battlefield mistakes.

Such behavior actually makes men attractive to women: bad boys were successful in the ancient EEA where female choice and attraction were formed. Nerdy studious shy males may be successful today, but were not the leaders in the EEA.

Such men used to go on crusades, on ships to discover America, engage in violent revolutions, or whatever venue could bring success in life. If they have a 50% chance of dying, and a 10% chance of becoming really successful, by the mathematics of reproductive success, it is worth the risk to those that otherwise don’t have much of a chance.

As devil’s advocate, we suggest to seriously analyze taboo solutions like ready availability of prostitution, and polyandry (which is historically practiced where one man does not have enough resources for a family. These men are serious trouble, they have nothing to lose and great determination. 

Brazil already has anti-discrimination laws favoring gays (in addition laws against racism, religious discrimination, etc.).  Business owners, or building managers, who disallowed public display gay deep French kissing face arrest and fines, except if they could prove they also had a history of disallowing heterosexual kissing. Hotels must not discriminate against gay couples. This law would further strengthen existing anti-discrimination laws and impose stiff jail sentences.

This attempt at passing laws criminalizing homophobia comes right after the Brazilian Supreme Court, in a rare unanimous vote, decided to take lawmaking it its own hand and declared that homosexual couples have the same rights as heterosexual couples on all issues.  For example, inheritance, joint tax declarations, joint health insurance, common law marriage, right to property acquired during cohabitation, etc. Some minor doubts remain if this includes the right for gay couples to adopt children.

No free speech, nor free academic research

Historically, for anti-discrimination laws, even science is not a valid  excuse: the book "The Bell Curve" was prohibited in Brazil because of the crime of racism, due to long existing laws against racism. The US is not much better, then president Clinton condemned the book, admittedly without having read it. But in the US nobody will be arrested and jailed for research on racial differences (they will just be harassed).

It is interesting to note that Brazil’s and Rio’s officials fought to win the title "best gay destination in the world" but are vigorously opposed to "sexual tourism", meaning heterosexual males in search of sex with Brazilian women.

The slippery slope from protecting against violence to policing words, thoughts and research

Political correctness started as a well meant attempt to correct legitimate grievances, like violence against homosexuals or other races (especially Blacks) and religion (especially Muslim), and gender discrimination (harassment). The next step, still defensible, punishes hate speech meant to directly and immediately incite violence.

So the initial intent was to outlaw "Kill blacks", "exterminate Jews", "beat faggots" speech. But that soon led to stifling thoughts and speech that hurts the sensitive of protected minorities.

It is a serious restriction to freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of research to extend these anti-violence codes to

• people who tell their kids not to become homosexual or
• scholarly researcher’s writings about racial differences in IQ and criminality.
• people who warn to avoid parts of town because they are more dangerous (and predominantly black)

Homophobic jokes, Racist speech, racist jokes, can get people arrested and jailed.

Almost everything that can be said is offensive to some protected group, or actually constitutes a crime: our society suffers from overcriminalization.

Public speech, commercial advertising, is very difficult, because it is easy to offend some group, be it Blacks, Indians, women, obese, handicapped, nurses, any group whatsoever. Maybe with the exception of white males that can be bashed at will for allegedly not pertaining to a protected disadvantaged minority.

• In the politically correct outrage, nobody cares about what she said.
  • Do Asians have a tendency to talk in the college library? Why do library officials not interfere? After all, she is not complaining about breach of a formality (like wearing a turban) but rather about noise that objectively disturbs the ability to study. Is the library at fault not to take up disciplinary action for distubance of peace in library? Any sociologist or political scientist up to watching behavior at the library and doing an unbiased test of her contention? And even her observations are wrong, so what?
  • Do Asians tend to have the entire large family visit them on the weekends to cook and wash their laundry? This is an interesting observation. Again, even if she is wrong, why disciplinary threats and threats of violence against her.
• Hate laws are problemetic restrictions to constitutionally guaranteed free speech. Initially they served a fairly noble cause, they were meant to prevent incitement of violence, lynching mob incitation and Adolf Hitler style rhetoric to beat up and kill Jews.  But being extended to any harmless uttering of a blonde student. failing to carefully select politically correct wording is troubling.
• She was actually pretty careful to hedge what she said. But still not enough.
• If she were an official of government, police or the University, maybe there would be a justification for using carefully selected wording. But an average citizen being vilified for some personal opinion which most likely is factually correct?
• Human Stupidity has examples where political correctness has serious consequences. From not scanning people at airports (body scans are "child porn") to searching old white ladies in equal frequency as young muslim men, to restriction of academic research about child sexuality and racial differences.

Though he observes differences between groups, he does not bother to analyze if they could be genetic. He seems to believe that race differences can be remedied, but avoids discussing these subjects.

Christophe Lemaitre 9.98 First White Man To Run Sub 10 Seconds

The lone white man running 100 meters in under 10 seconds. 70 blacks and one white are in the select group of Athletes that run 100 meters in under 10 seconds.  Even on the European Championship, he is the only white guy!

Maybe he could be the first white man in decades to qualify for the 100 meter finals? Maybe the races are not equal? Or are whites and Asians just disadvantaged and discriminated in running? See some politically correct attempts to explain away the obvious:

A misunderstanding: some people argue that the fact that there is one guy among 70 blacks is proof that the races are equal. Nobody argues that the races are totally different, it is the famous bell curve: there is a small difference in the mean, and a large difference at the extreme ends at the Bell curve.  Just as there are no white top 10 world championship 100 meter runners, there are no black Math or Physics Nobel Prize winners.

Also very funny: those black racists, who gleefully defend black superiority in 100 meter running, are not aware that by the same logic and theory (see Rushton, below) Blacks are less intelligent and more prone to crime.

It is more honest to legalize corporal punishment in jail (a big taboo) , then furtively,unconsciously introduce corporal punishment in the form of tolerated or even encouraged prison rape.

We are unconscious vigilantes, self deceived "non-violent humanists".

By condoning, ignoring, and not actively combating prison rape, we have indirectly and furtively introduced corporal punishment (rape) and death penalty (HIV through prison rape). Self Deception & Unconsciousness overcome a politically-correct-taboo of non-violence and human rights& dignity for bandits.

My suggestion is to be honest, and to officially and consciously legalize what we have been doing unconsciously.

1. Flogging and Caning is more humane and just then Prison Rape.
2. Prison rape is tolerated because people think criminals "deserve" it
3. So I propose to be honest and give people what they deserve in a more controlled and correct way.
4. Singapore and Saudi Arabia may teach how to implement corporal punishment

I am Devil’s advocate, and like to be provocative, thought producing, break taboos, shed light on the unconscious. I am aware that this is quite provocative, part serious, part exaggeration, intent on shaking up people.

Prison Rape: frequent, traumatic, unjust! "Morally justified" because criminals "deserve it"?

In the US and many other countries, prison rape is pervasive (read more: wikipedia on prison rape+just detention-prison rape, No escape: male rape in U.S. prisons (370 page online book)) Strangely, feminists and other human groups who are very concerned about rape and slightest offense to sensitivities of women, are quiet about this scandal. There are more men raped in the US then women (because prision rape is very frequent) Prison rape usually is not a one time event, but often year long sex slavery, multiple hour long gang rape: No escape: male rape in U.S. prisons (370 page online book)  Comparable only to famous sex cases like Fritzl, who locked up their victims for years. Still, no reaction by feminist who instead worry that consensual sex with a 17 year old is rape and that expensive luxury prostitutes are victims of rape. The government locks up people, it is responsible for their safety. On top of psychological trauma, victims are at serious danger of getting AIDS and other STD

Keep in mind that many experts consider county and local jails to be more likely places for rapes than prisons. There is a reason for this. You are more likely to be raped while in prison if: You are young. You come from a middle-class background. You are white. You are not street smart or have no gang affiliations. Physically you are of small stature.      By the time repeat or career criminals get to prison they have normally made the circuit through foster homes, juvenile lockups and reform schools where rape is very common. The wrong people get prison-raped

1. The taboo: official revenge against criminals and corporal punishment is a no-no 
   
2. The secret unconscious taboo motive for being quiet about prison rape: the subconscious, but often outspoken attitude: "the felons deserve to be raped".
   
3. The wrong people get raped: The problem is that the hard core gang felons normally rape and sexually enslave those convicted of minor crime., An inversion of the vigilante attitude: those that most "deserve to be raped" are the rapists:the hard core violent gang criminals that deserve extra punishment. The rape victims are
   • the non-violent criminals least deserving of extra punishment. And,
   • convicted "rapists" are singled out to be raped by "real men", "real criminals". Nowadays, most convicted "rapists" are victims of feminist witch hunts. Under inversion of the burden of proof ("guilty until proven innocent") get jailed for consensual underage sex, alleged unproven date rape, marital rape, inappropriate fondling of minors, or simply false vengeful accusations.

So the unconscious unspoken attitude is that some people deserve to be raped, ought to receive corporal punishment. So why not start consciously doling out corporal punishment to those that "deserve it", but

• observing due process
• punishing the right people who deserve it
• not causing a public health menace with STD and AIDS

Whipping: a more humane punishment then rape

1. flogging and caning is more humane then rape
2. Flogging saves a lot of cash compared to locking offenders up in prisons for months and years
3. Whipping is a deterrent. Jail is "coming home" for many gang members who will live among their gang friends with their personal sex slaves.

Will I start a campaign to introduce corporal punishment? No! My purpose is to raise awareness and consciousness through provocation.

1. a secure legal system for investors, and
2. access to third world cheap labor.

There will be no democracy, voting is with feet: if you like the system you can go there. If you don’t like it, don’t go there.

1. Very creative idea countering conventional human stupidity.
   • countering the anti-colonialism dogma: poor nations have proven already that they cannot get efficient administration. So an efficient administration bound by British, Canadian, German law is being provided
   • countering the “democracy dogma”: inhabitans of the charter cites do not vote, they can vote with their feet only to come or to leave. Democracy in poor third world nations has shown to be rife with populism and voting for corrupt politicians.

2. There still are stupidities in Romer’s suggestion. Devil’s Advocate thinks Romer is optimistic in several points or does not dare to face certain facts.
   • colonial powers in the past were world powers without qualms to use their might.
     • Most third world nations would not tolerate a successful rich foreign city on their soil for 99 years. Either a populist president would invade it, or use threats to get concessions. Or
     • it could not be defended against marauding gangs Somali Style, or
     • invasion by the poorest of the poor with no skills, slum style.
     • Romer’s suggestion to use toothless nations like Canada or Germany might backfire. Cuba is more likely to respect Guantanamo in US hands then governed by Canada. Of course, even a world power might not  be willing to militarily defend a charter city that does not bring power,status or exploitation profits like original colonies
   • Modern democracies’ laws might not be a viable example. Modern democracies are rife with welfare freeloaders, criminals exploiting human rights, unskilled immigration overload etc. Devil’s Advocate enjoyed the suggestion of a Spiegel reader to allow China to set up a Charter City in Germany.
   • I barely dare to mention racial differences because now I lose 95% of my readers who subscribe to the unproven but firmly defended credo that “all races are equal”, or worse, “races don’t exist”.  All successful examples like Hong Kong were in Asia, with highly intelligent and socially well behaved Asians. Respectable research (discredited by political correctness) on racial differences shows that Asians are most intelligent, closely follwed by whites, and, unfortunately blacks trailing. So a model like this might have serious difficulties in Africa, especially if these intrinsic problems of genetic propensity to lower intelligence, less respect for order and more violence are not taken into consideration. This was pointed out by Nobel Prize winner James Watson who got shunned for telling scientific truth. I believe that the Paul Romer’s model can be successfully applied to Africa, but chances for success are greater when the model is based on scientific truth and not on well meant fiction.

Of course, instead of talking, maybe these do-gooders should all embark to Haiti as volunteer helpers and donate all their wages to Haiti development. This would cause a positive impact.  Being obese and overeating in Paris, Los Angeles or Kansas is ok. Out of sight, out of mind.

Haiti’s plight wouldn’t improve if the cruise ships were diverted to another nearby island and pretended the disaster wasn’t happening, agreed Chris MacDonald, a senior fellow at Duke University’s Kenan Institute for Ethics and a philosophy professor at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He also writes The Business Ethics Blog.

“The cruise ships aren’t hurting anyone, in fact they’re doing some good, they’re bringing some help,” MacDonald said.

People who believe it’s disrespectful for tourists to enjoy themselves so close to a disaster zone should realize that the alternative of avoiding the area wouldn’t be more respectful, MacDonald added.

The proximity sets off our gut reactions, but it doesn’t seem to make any real moral difference, he said.

Mullis pointed out that the Dominican Republic — Haiti’s touristy neighbor on the island of Hispaniola — is also close to the disaster but is doing business as usual.
